Stove-Top Basmati Rice

Wash the rice until the water runs clear.

Then, add the rice to a bowl & cover it with water to soak for at least 30 minutes.

Drain the soaking water & add the rice to a sauce pan with one cup of water. Season with salt & add bay leaves & green cardamom pods. Bring the pan to a boil over medium heat.

Turn off the heat & cover the pan with a lid. Leave the rice to steam for 15-20 minutes until all the water has been absorbed.
