Equipment
Ingredients

  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
Instructions

  • Combine honey, water, and cardamom pods in a saucepan and warm it over medium heat. Stir until the honey completely dissolves.
  • Remove the pan from heat and set it aside to steep for at least 10 minutes.
  • Pour the mixture through a mesh strainer into an airtight container.
Notes
Expert Tips:
  • Lightly crush the cardamom pods with the back of a spoon or in a mortar and pestle to release more of their flavor.
  • The standard ratio for simple syrup is equal parts water and sweetener. However, you can adjust it based on your preference. For sweeter syrup, add more; for lighter syrup, use less.
  • Once the honey has dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool completely. Once cooled and steeped, transfer it to an airtight container.
