Expert Tips
  • Check the fresh or dried lavender before using them to make the syrup to ensure they're fragrant.
  • The standard ratio for simple syrup is equal parts water and sweetener. For example, use 1 cup of water and 1 cup of honey to provide a balanced sweetness for the syrup. For a sweeter syrup, use more sugar; for lighter syrup, use less.
  • Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool completely. Set the pan aside to steep for 1-2 hours for the best results before straining out the flavoring ingredient.
  • Once it cools, transfer it to a glass container. Store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to a month.
